Call for 2012 Lead Teachers
CASE is seeking agricultural educators for Lead Teacher positions. We are looking for highly qualified teachers who are interested in facilitating instruction during the 2012 CASE Institutes. This is a special opportunity, made available only to those teachers who have participated in previous CASE Institutes and demonstrated proficiency using CASE curriculum resources.
Lead Teachers provide instruction to CASE Institute participants regarding the implementation of CASE curriculum during a two-week professional development session. Lead Teachers are responsible for setting up the equipment, modeling the selected lessons, monitoring the teachers’ progress, providing extra assistance to teachers as necessary (i.e. evening sessions), assessing the participants’ work, and preparing reports for the affiliate institution and CASE staff. After the CASE Institute, Lead Teachers are expected to maintain contact with the teachers in their class section and to participate actively in the course discussion board.
All Lead Teacher candidates should be flexible to travel to a CASE Institute site that may be outside of their state. They must be available to teach a two-week consecutive session during the summer and be available to attend a three day Lead Teacher Orientation in the spring.
Each Lead Teacher will receive compensation for your service. The rate of compensation is $3500 which includes team planning of scope and sequence, individual planning and preparation of institute sessions, 80 hours of classroom instruction, and other expectations outlined in the Lead Teacher Roles and Responsibilities. Lodging and airfare or mileage during the CASE Institute will be covered by CASE. A $200 travel stipend will be provided for additional travel related expenses.
Lead Teacher Orientation will be held April 27-29, 2012 in Ankeny, Iowa. We ask that your school district support you in the form of a substitute for Friday, April 27. CASE will pay your travel expenses. Teachers will be expected to arrive in Ankeny early Friday afternoon in time for an evening session. The program will conclude Sunday in time to allow you to travel home for school on Monday.
If you are interested, please review the Lead Teacher Roles and Responsibilities and complete the Lead Teacher Application form. Return the application to Dan Jansen by February 15, 2012. By submitting an application, you are confirming your availability for Lead Teacher Orientation. Selection of 2012 Lead Teachers will be based on the application, nominations of Lead Teachers, and your availability for institutes.
