Institute FAQs

New this year, NAAE/CASE will process all payments. This is different from previous years during which you pay your host directly. Please do not contact your host regarding payment. Credit card payments are highly preferred. POs will be accepted; if payment is not received by your payment date (which will be communicated in your invoice and subsequent follow-ups), registration will be released to the public. Please do not use a PO as a form of securing a spot if you do not intend on attending. If you intend on paying with a credit card, DO NOT REGISTER until you are ready to use the credit card. Teachers who secure a spot with a PO and wish to pay with a credit card later will need to cancel their initial registation, which means a spot may not be avaialbe at your chosen event when re-registering.
Included in your registration fee is your permament access to the curriculum, materials used during the institute, all meals during the Institute, and your lodging (hotel or dorm). Travel to and from your Institute location is NOT included.
Once you become CASE certified in any course, you retain that certification forever. Regardless of who funded your certification, the curriculum follows you.
Each day, you will be engaged in direct instruction from 8am to 5pm. Some nights may require collaboration with partners or team to complete homework.
We understand that an agriculture teacher’s summer is jam-packed. Due to the intense nature of our training, we only allow up to 6 hours of missed time during our 2 week events. If you’ll need to miss more than 6 hours, we suggest you find an alternate Institute. Those who miss more than 6 hours are at risk of not being certified. This applies to both in-person and virtual events.
For virtual institutes, your time is your own once you step away from your computer. For in-person events, you are free to explore the local area during the Saturday and Sunday scheduled for the Institute. Lead Teachers and hosts often coordinate tours and social events for the weekend.
As long as the institutes don't overlap, we do not limit your amount of institutes in one summer. If your funding, time frame, and schedule for self-care/ non-work time this summer allow for you to take 2 or more institutes, we look forward to seeing you!
Because events are synchronous (live), you will need dedicated space and time for the instruction. We cannot certify those who are taking courses remotely from a stock show, another concurrent PD event, etc. The time zone for each institute is the time zone that the host site is located in. You will need to be in a space that allows for materials to be laid out and internet access during these times:
  • 9-11 am: Synchronous meeting
  • 11 am-1 pm: Lunch,; asynchronous work time
  • 1-3 pm: Synchronous meeting
  • 3-4 pm: Asynchronous work time, Lead Teacher office hours
The price is comparable to an in-person event because the amount usually allocated to hotels/meals will be spent on materials that will be sent directly to you, for you to keep.
