Miscellaneous Details

  • Texas State University is a public, student-centered research institution guided by our unwavering belief in the power of education to transform communities, power economies, and reimagine the world. Our students come from every walk of life across Texas, the nation, and the world. Texas State finds its home in San Marcos, TX.
  • San Marcos is a part of the Greater Austin Metropolitan Area. San Marcos is on the Interstate 35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio. There are many activities that one can do in the area, including floating in the river, hiking in the hill country, visiting major cities, and stopping in for some beaver nuggets at Buc’ee’s! San Marcos and the surrounding area are experiencing some rapid growth and development.
  • Specifically in the Agricultural Sciences department at Texas State University, we have 800 students split between three majors: General Agriculture, Agribusiness, and Animal Science. Within the General Agriculture major, we have agricultural mechanics, horticulture, and agricultural education concentrations. We have an extensive agricultural mechanics teaching space with areas for welding, construction AC/DC wiring, machinery management, and small engines.
  • During our institute, we will tour local heavy machinery shops, explore the local agriculture industry, and enjoy a unique slice of Texas!
